Day 7: Being Intentional

Woohoo! We’ve officially completed one week of the 31 Day Challenge!
If you have no idea what The 31 Day Challenge is then go HERE to find out!

Yesterday morning I struggled to force myself to get out of bed. Both of my kids were up through out the night, my blankets were nice and warm, the floor was cold, and I just wanted to sleep. But, I forced myself to get up.

For the last few days the word intentional has been on my mind.
If we want a clean house, we make the effort to clean it.
If we want dinner, we make the effort to prepare it (picking up take out counts!).
If we want more money, we work harder.
If we want to lose weight, we work out.
So, why should being a follower of Jesus be any different?
10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.
12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:10-14

Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t mean that everything comes to us easy. That would definitely be nice but if everything were given to us I’m sure that most of us would become lazy. I’m sure I would.
Jesus is ready and waiting on us to make the effort for the relationship happen.

By Definition:
1. (n.) relationship
a connection, association, or involvement.

A relationship takes time and effort and if we want it to grow we have to be the ones to take the extra steps to make it happen. As the definition states above, a relationship requires involvement.
We aren’t going to move ahead in our relationship with God if we’re only going to church on Sunday’s and not spending time with him throughout the week.

If we want to get to know God better, we read our bible.
If we want to talk to God, we pray.
If we want to act like Christ, we love others.

We have to be intentional.
